AVC Trading: Our history
AVC Trading was formed in 1997 as a joint venture between ICI Australia and Auseon, a fully owned subsidiary of Geon USA. Prior to 1997, ICI and Auseon were competitors. Both companies had been producing PVC resin and compound in Australia, dating back to the 1950s.
In 2004, AVC Trading fully acquired ModWood Technologies, Australia’s leading producer of wood-plastic composite products. In 2007 AVC Trading was purchased by Wesfarmers, one of Australia’s largest, oldest, most successful, and most diverse listed companies. AVC Trading was incorporated into Wesfarmers Chemicals, Energy & Fertilisers (WesCEF) division.
In 2016, AVC Trading ceased local manufacturing of PVC resin and moved to an import business model, retaining its position as the major supplier of PVC resin to the Australian market through our long-standing relationship with Formosa Plastics Corporation (FPC). Based in Taiwan, FPC is one of the largest producers of PVC resin in the world, with multiple production plants in Taiwan, China, and the United States.
